Holiday Market: Kelly Mulligan Photography

One of the great pleasures we have at Cheverly Community Market is people watching. We love watching babies grow into children (and teens!), old and new friends meet, and our vendors and customers make lasting relationships and learn about each other. At Thanksgiving Market, we especially enjoyed meeting photographer Kelly Mulligan and hearing her chat with the many people who stopped by her table.
Not only are we impressed by Kelly's work, we love that every photo has a real story -- just ask Kelly! These images have meaning, and that shines through. What a lovely gift to share this holiday season.
Almost always behind the camera, Kelly is a new mom, photographer and art teacher. Formally trained in visual art and photography, Kelly received her BFA from Rutgers University in 1998 and her MFA from Temple University in 2001. Kelly has taught photography and visual arts at a number of colleges and universities including the Corcoran College of Art + Design, George Washington University, Virginia Commonwealth University, and Temple University. She currently teaches photojournalism and computer graphics at Langley High School in McLean, Virginia. Her work has been exhibited in numerous galleries in DC, NJ, NY, PA, VA and in Germany. With an eye for spontaneity and whimsy, Kelly strives to honor the beauty in everyday life.
Meet Kelly this Saturday and peruse a lovely selection of original photographic artworks, including animal themed images for children's rooms, as well as landscape and travel imagery. She's prepared an assortment of sizes and display options including traditional mats, frames, and flush-mounted images on deep-cradled wooden blocks.

Holiday Market: Great tastes that go great together

Feel that chill in the air when your alarm goes off on these dark winter mornings? You want to pull those covers up and sleep a little longer, don't you? What you really want is for someone to bring a nice hot cup of coffee and some breakfast to you while you catch a few extra minutes of sleep.

While we can't bring you breakfast in bed, we can suggest the perfect breakfast for these brisk mornings: fresh, hot coffee from Alcoba Coffee Beans, artisanal breads from Cheverly Breadbasket, and delightful small-batch jams from Martha's Jams (come to think of it, the combination would make a very thoughtful gift...) Gee, add an egg from Shlagel Farms and sausage from Waltz Family Farm or smoked salmon from Two Oceans, and you have a prefect weekend brunch!
Visit Holiday Market on December 14 and stock up on perfect weekday breakfast items (or delicious makings for a sumptuous weekend brunch). In addition to a great array of regular flavors at Martha's Jams, Cheverly's own Martha Allen will have pear ginger regular and sugar free) as well as Apple & Herb (try it on toast, and use it in your savory dishes, too!)
Cheverly's Arvind & Crystal Lal operate Cheverly Breadbasket, and bring us wonderful, freshly baked artisanal breads and pastries. Enjoy breakfast as you shop on December 14, and make sure to pick up breads for sandwiches and meals throughout the week (and don't forget to get a little extra for those homemade bread puddings and stuffings!)
We can't imagine a morning without a strong cup of coffee, and that's where Jose Castillo's Alcoba Coffee Beans come in! Wonderful Guatemalan beans are roasted locally until they're rich and aromatic -- Alcoba comes in three strengths (you won't be surprised to learn that we're partial to the dark roast) and makes great espresso, too.

You'll find all these wonderful provisions at Cheverly Community Market's Holiday Market on December 14, 8am to noon. Now...to find someone to make and bring us breakfast while we hit that snooze button...
