THANK YOU to everyone for supporting us -- this is a great honor, and we share it with the entire community.

This week at the Market: Simple Pleasures Ice Cream

 This weekend is expected to be steamy...what better way to cool off than with Simple Pleasures Ice Cream? They'll be with us until 11:30am this Saturday, so make sure to stop by and enjoy some of the very best ice cream, sorbet and gelato you'll ever taste!

Special Event: $25 Certificate Raffle

Have we told you lately that we love you? We really do! And to show you how much Cheverly Community Market loves our customers, we're holding a special raffle over the final four regular Markets of our season! 

For the remainder of the regular season, tickets ($1 each/6 for $5) will be available at the big green Market tent for a chance to win a certificate good for $25 in products from our vendors. Winners will be drawn and announced at 10:30am, so visit us early! This is a great opportunity to take a chance and try some new things or stock up on old favorites!

One certificate awarded per Market, September 8, September 22, October 6, and October 20. Certificates must be used during the regular season and expire at the end of our last regular Market on October 20. Certificates are not redeemable for cash.

Eileen Shlagel brings gorgeous produce to us each Market from Waldorf's Shlagel Farms.  Visit Shlagel Farms at Cheverly Community Market this Saturday for wonderful beets, corn, leeks, melons, green beans, kale, and more. This week at the Market: Cakes by Ruthann

This Saturday, Cakes by Ruthann is putting the Jamaican ROOTS in RUTH-ANN! Visit the Cakes by Ruthann tent for spicy Jamaican beef, chicken and callaloo patties.

What is callaloo? Callaloo is a green, leafy vegetable similar to the texture and taste of spinach and is used in the Caribbean for stews, soups, and veggie dishes made with coconut milk and codfish.
Come experience this delicious callaloo patty that is seasoned and baked to perfection! And while you're there, make sure to pick up a delicious rum cake, ginger beer, macaroon or other wonderful treat. If we're really lucky, maybe Ruthann will even bring those delectable rum balls -- dark rum-infused balls of cake enrobed in rich chocolate that sold out so fast at our last Market!

Community Groups at the Market: Friends of Lower Beaverdam Creek

Join Sheila Salo and Friends of Lower Beaverdam Creek this Saturday at Cheverly Community Market. They'll have information about the Environmental Forum to be held right here at the Cheverly Community Center on Monday, September 10, at 7:00pm.

FLBC will also have information about the September work party, which will be on Saturday, September 29 from 9:00am to noon. They'll be removing invasive plants from the area by Magruder Spring. Want to get involved? Meet at the entrance to the trail that is on Cheverly Avenue, close to the intersection of Cheverly Avenue and Columbia Park Road -- just one-half block down the street from the Cheverly 7-11 and about a block from the Cheverly Metro. Tools, gloves, snacks, and water will be provided. As always, school community service hours are available. Hope to see you there!
