Food for Thought: Reusable Market Bags

If you follow regional politics, you probably already know that the idea of bringing the bag tax to the county is making its way through our legislature. This week, the Prince George's County delegation approved a county-wide 5-cent tax on shopping bags. Similar programs have cut down on waste and generated much-needed funds in other municipalities, including the District, and we think this is an excellent opportunity to invest in a cleaner environment by decreasing the paper and plastics that end up in our waterways, green spaces, landfills, and roads.
