Website Issue

We are aware that our website is currently experiencing server issues. Those issues will be resolved by April 1. If you need to download a vendor application, vendor handbook, or press kit, please email Kathryn or Liz directly.

Many thanks for your patience! Growth is good, right?

REMINDER: Shlagel Farms & Waltz Family Farm are coming to town THIS SATURDAY!

Is ordering from Shlagel Family Farm and Waltz Family Farm for delivery this weekend on your to-do list? Do it right away! So far, they've only received a few orders, and they many have to postpone their Cheverly treks for a few weeks if they don't get more!

Shlagel Farm brings beautiful brown eggs to Cheverly. Brown eggs, with all of their naturally variance in color, are a lot of fun to dye. The colors come out rich and sometimes dark and they look cool mixed with traditionally dyed eggs. Eileen will also have bags of fresh cut spinach for $4.00.  The asparagus is VERY, VERY close.  I wont know until Saturday if I will have some to bring so that will be a suprise! Email Eileen with your order for Saturday pickup.

Waltz Family Farm will stop by Cheverly to deliver delicious meats, including beef, lamb, and pork. Need lamb for Greek Easter? Laurie has half a lamb available. Live weight is about 55lbs., born this winter and fed only mothers milk and pasture. They'll also have hot dogs stuffed with cheddar cheese, kielbasa grillers and canadian bacon. Please take a look at the menu from their last Cheverly delivery to get an idea of what's available. Once you make some choices (and there's a lot of good stuff available!) email Laurie directly or calling 301-714-0584.  If you do order via email, Laurie asks that you include a phone number in case she needs to reach you.

Again, please make sure to preorder with Eileen and Laurie -- they will be dropping orders at the Community Center and Cheverly Community Market personnel are not involved in this effort (beyond helping to get the word out!)

Tasty Treats for Your Easter Table

Shlagel Farm and Waltz Family Farm will be bringing some wonderful Easter provisions to Cheverly again this Saturday (10:00-11:00am in the Community Center parking lot). Make sure to pre-order with Eileen and Laurie, as they're dropping off orders and will not have a large quantity of extra stock!

Food for Thought: Reusable Market Bags

If you follow regional politics, you probably already know that the idea of bringing the bag tax to the county is making its way through our legislature. This week, the Prince George's County delegation approved a county-wide 5-cent tax on shopping bags. Similar programs have cut down on waste and generated much-needed funds in other municipalities, including the District, and we think this is an excellent opportunity to invest in a cleaner environment by decreasing the paper and plastics that end up in our waterways, green spaces, landfills, and roads. Our roomy logo bag is a great way to show your support of Cheverly Community Market. Make sure to stock up on a few this season at Cheverly Community Market!

Market Manager's Letter: March 2012

The groundhog may be waiting out six more weeks of winter but, here at the Cheverly Community Market, we are busy preparing for the upcoming season. We have some exciting plans -- and we need your help to achieve them! As we work to grow the market, we continue to rely on the community for help and support.

Volunteers
We need of volunteers to help us with all aspects of the market. Do you have a special skill that you could share? You might be surprised about the many ways you can help. We are also looking for volunteers specifically with knowledge in fundraising. Do you attend every market rain or shine? Why not volunteer on a market day and get to know the vendors who help to make our market so special. If you can help, please email me at manager@cheverlycommunitymarket.com

Community Groups
Check your calendars and let us know what dates you are interested in having a table! Remember, only one community group may fundraise per market date, so slots will fill up fast. The application and handbook are up on the website now. As a reminder, our 2012 Market dates are:

Community
To everyone -- keep an eye on our website as well as our blog over the next few weeks as we make changes and introduce new features. If you aren’t already on our mailing list, send us an email to be added.

Looking forward to a great Cheverly Community Market 2012!
