Who's Coming to Market this week? Rebert's Farm/Benny's Fruit Stand

School is back in session and fall is in the air... And our vendors are bringing produce that celebrates the change of season! Matt Rebert writes that they'll have lots of apples (Honey Crisp, Gala, Golden Supreme, Macintosh, and Smokehouse), as well as a variety of winter squash, two types of plums, yellow and white peaches, bartlett pears, and purple onions. In addition to including fresh fruits in those sack lunches for school and work (and picnics), now is the time for pies, crisps and cobblers of all types. They're also a great addition to salads, sandwiches (try brie, basil and peaches on toast), inventive salsas (peach over fish is delicious), or even cooked with your favorite meats. And winter squashes and red onions are perfect for these cooler early fall evenings -- roasted, accompanying a salad...what a terrific, simple fall supper.
