Do you ever stop and think about why you support farmer's markets? It's an interesting question. Among many articles all over the web about this question, Richard Layman has an extremely insightful article on his blog Rebuilding Pace in the Urban Space. There are the obvious reasons: helping local farms stay in business, knowing exactly where your food comes from, getting the freshest possible food...but there are other good reasons, too. Building a sense of community, providing some sort of gathering place in town, fostering opportunities for local organizations and artisans to sell their wares...Why do you support farmer's markets? If you google "why farmer's markets", you'll come away with about 5,480,000 results. We'd like to hear your reasons!
