Did you know that we participate in WIC FMNP?

Cheverly Community Market is very proud to participate in the WIC FMNP this year. The Farmers' Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) is associated with the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC), through the USDA.

In 2010, over two million people participated nationwide in the program (nearly 356,000 in Maryland), which helps people in need to purchase a variety of fresh, nutritious, unprepared, locally grown fruits, vegetables and herbs. Women, infants (over four months old) and children that have been certified to receive WIC program benefits or who are on a waiting list for WIC certification are eligible to participate in the FMNP.

We know that many families in our area face challenging economic times. We know that good, healthy food can be expensive. We also know that fresh, healthy produce is vital to children's development. We're proud to participate in this important program that has a track record of helping families to make healthy, nutritious choices. Please help us get the word out -- if you know someone who is enrolled in this program, please invite them to the Market!
