At the Market This Week: Shlagel Farms

Sounds like the Shlagels have had a quite a few Cheverly visitors at the farm this fall -- how great! Eileen sends these two notes; first about all the wonderful things that Shjlagel Farms will have at Cheverly Market this Saturday (make sure to welcome Eileen's son, Karl), and a second about fun fall activities at the farm. Read both and make plans to see the Shlagels several times over the weekend! I'm going to let Eileen's words speak for themselves here...

Hello Cheverly,
Thanks to all of you that have been down to the farm to vist.  We really appreciate it!  We will be there this Saturday with: apples, acorn squash, butternut squash, yellow and green squash, cabbage, broccoli, green beans, red potatoes, sweet potatoes, grape tomatoes, maybe a few large tomatoes, large green peppers, red peppers, eggplant, speciality peppers, kale and collards and onions.  This Saturday my son Karl will be covering the market for me as I have to take care of all the customers at the farm.  This Saturday, on the farm, Bay K9 Search and Rescue dogs; Millie and Edgar will be visiting from 10-3p and providing demonstrations.  Shop at the market at all your favorite vendors and then think about a visit to the pumpkin patch!

Hello Farm Friends!
Have you picked your fall pumpkin yet? Hurry up and don’t let October pass you by without a trip to the farm to visit the pumpkin patch! This weekend promises to be another beautiful weekend and perfect for your family outing. Make it part of your family’s traditions with a picnic lunch and great memories captured on film.
We’re open 10a-5p Saturdays and Sundays in October. We have our corn box that provides hours of simple fun and our straw maze that incorporates critical thinking skills with running and sliding fun for little people, a full petting zoo for kids of all ages and an informational hay ride around the farm with Farmer Russ. The tractor stops at the pumpkin patch and if you’d like to get off and pick a pumpkin there are still great ones available. The last hay ride goes out at about 4:15. If you would like to make a scarecrow for your yard bring old clothes and a pillowcase for the head. We’ll provide the straw stuffing and instructions at no extra charge.
In the barn we have our delicious fruit ciders, jams, butters, and syrups as well as fresh seasonal produce offered for sale. We also have straw bales and beautiful mums for decorating your yard. The straw bales are $5.00 each and the mums are $5 each or 5 for $25. Hello Farm Friends!
