Community Groups at the Market: Friends of Lower Beaverdam Creek

As I write this, the sound of chainsaws and Pepco trucks fills the air. I think those are sounds we'll continue to hear for some time. I've always been conflicted about losing trees, but have come to understand that nature replenishes herself, and sometimes, she needs to make room to do it. And sometimes, nature needs a little help, too.
This week, Friends of Lower Beaverdam Creek will be doing some very helpful things. Sheila Salo explains:

"Microburst got your trees? The Town of Cheverly will plant a tree on your property absolutely free of charge. Come by the Friends of Lower Beaverdam Creek table and pick up an agreement form.

Visit the Friends of Lower Beaverdam Creek table to learn more about the BioBlitz, coming July 7.

Do your Market shopping early and follow up with trail work with the Friends of Lower Beaverdam Creek work party at 9:00am. We meet at the Cheverly Avenue entrance to the trail near Magruder Spring. Sign up at the FLBC table to make sure you get all the work party notices."

The Friends of Lower Beaverdam Creek provide a real, useful service and the organization and can certainly use your help! Make sure to stop by, visit Sheila, and learn about how you can avail yourself of Cheverly's free tree planting. It's a win-win.
