With a record-breaking heatwave crossing the country, we know it's going to be a hot Saturday morning. Temperatures are set to hit 100f, with lots of humidity and heat indexes climbing higher and higher. Definitely sounds like summer in the DC metro area, doesn't it? Here's our suggestion: Trek out first thing in the morning and visit us at Cheverly Community Market. Get a cup of coffee or a cold ginger beer, a pastry and some fruit, and sit down with your friends and neighbors to discuss your 4th of July plans and strategies for keeping cool in excessive temperatures. Then stock up on the best fruits and vegetables, meats, seafood, sausages, breads, cakes, cookies, jams, cheeses, wines and ice creams available locally, let the little ones eat ice cream for breakfast and listen to a great story at 10:30, then head home to rest and think about all the wonderful meals you can make with your treasures!
